Our Board of Trustees plays a vital role in managing Eduserv. They represent the beneficiaries for whom Eduserv exists: the education community in general and in particular UK universities and colleges. They also act as company directors under the Companies Act.
Paul Layzell (Chair)
Paul has been Deputy Vice Chancellor at The University of Sussex since September 2006 where he is responsible for resources, including IT strategy and policy. Prior to that, he held senior positions at UMIST and the new University of Manchester and was a member of the original working group which developed the initial proposals to bring together UMIST and the Victoria University of Manchester. His academic background is in software engineering and information systems, with a long career as an active researcher, lecturer and practitioner in these fields.
Eric Burrows
Eric is an independent consultant. His consultancy focus is on the leadership of market and customer led organisational change. His experience includes international line management and consulting roles with a range of organisations including Ford, Shell, PA Consulting and Kinsley Lord. His most recent roles have been as Director of Consulting at The Work Foundation, and a Managing Partner with Towers Perrin in the USA.
David Teague
David Teague is the principal consultant of Symagis, a company he formed in 2006 to provide management consultancy on business development, leadership and customer focus across the private and public sectors. He was previously President of Fujitsu Siemens in the UK and Ireland. Prior to that he worked for ICL in sales, marketing and service management, culminating in the role of Group Director of Operations.
Tim Simpson
Tim Simpson has recently retired from his role as vice-president of operations at Qualcomm and joined the board of Brighton University as an independent governor. Prior to that, he was a governor on the board of De Montfort University for 10 years. Earlier in his career, Tim spent over 15 years in strategy and technology consulting with companies including Scicon (now part of EDS), McKinsey and Co and Marconi. Tim is now building a portfolio of board positions, focusing on high-tech companies and the education sector.
Graham Head
Graham is director of ICT at West Middlesex University Hospital where he is responsible for strategic planning, development and service delivery in ICT. Previously, he was head of Information Services at the British Museum, where he was responsible for all British Museum information systems, including public multimedia supporting the interpretation of the collections and learning; curatorial and research systems and tools supporting the estate. Graham was also a founding partner of The Sollis Partnership, a small company offering information, database and consultancy services to a range of public sector bodies and specialising in the Health Service.
